COPA AIRLINES CONFIRMS LAUNCH DIRECT FLIGHT TO BARBADOS
Copa Airlines, a subsidiary of Copa Holdings, S. A, {NYSE: CPA} and a member of the global Star Alliance airline network, together with the Barbados Tourism Office, confirms the launch of the new route to the island of Barbados on July 17, 2018. Through this initiative, the airline strengthens its leadership in the Caribbean region, while also becoming a key tourism promoter of the island.

“Copa Airlines is proud to begin flights to Barbados and be the only airline connecting this beautiful and dynamic Caribbean island with Latin America. With this new destination, we uphold our leadership and presence in the Caribbean region, where we serve 16 destinations,” said Pedro Heilbron, CEO of Copa Airlines.

The Copa Airlines flight will leave Panama on Tuesdays and Fridays, departing at 9:30 a.m. and arriving in Bridgetown at 2:00 p.m. The return flight will operate on the same days, departing at 3:00 p.m. and arriving at 5:30 p.m. This route will be operated by a Boeing 737-800 NG with capacity for 16 passengers in business class and 138 travelers in the main cabin.
Regarding the benefits of this new route, Heilbron mentioned that "the connectivity between Panama and this new destination will generate important opportunities for the development and strengthening of tourism and commercial activity, both for Panama and the 76 additional destinations serviced by the airline."

With the signing of the agreement between Copa Airlines and the Barbados Tourism Office, this new route will offer two weekly flights to the Caribbean island which, in addition to its heavenly beaches, promises visitors a number of activities, such as catamaran tours and cave excursions. In addition to its beautiful hotels and spectacular landscapes, Barbados is recognized as "the culinary capital of the Caribbean," where visitors can enjoy a wide gastronomic selection.

“This new route is very important for us and our industry service providers, as it provides the opportunity to show all of Latin America our culture, our incredible beaches, our range of hotels, our culinary identity and the many activities we have to offer. This undoubtedly is beneficial for both countries and strengthens the economy and tourism sector, as well as elevates the recognition of the island in Latin America,” commented William “Billy" Griffith, Executive Director of the Barbados Tourism Office.

Copa Airlines currently operates an average of 350 daily flights through the Hub of the Americas, located at the Tocumen International Airport in Panama City, connecting 78 cities in 32 countries of the continent. Earlier this year, the airline was recognized for a fifth consecutive year by FlightStats as "the most punctual airline in Latin America" and by the Official Airline Guide of London as "the fourth most punctual airline in the world" and "the most punctual airline in Latin America."
